Blood Siren for Nevermet Press

This is the last piece for the upcoming Steampunk monster folio for Nevermet Press, the Blood siren. She is based off of the real world fiend, Countess Elisabeth Bathory, who lived in the 15th century in Transylvania and believed that the blood of virgins would keep her young forever. She killed approximately 600 young women and bathed in their blood. The courts failed to convict her, most likely due to powerful royal connections, so instead of burning her at the stake as they did to her staff (all accomplices) they bricked her up in her castle. She lived in total isolation for four years and then died.  A pretty awesome back story for a villainess and the inspiration for a bit more of a ‘dark ages’ portraiture take on the traditional monster illustration.
